MPANDA: KATAVI Regional Commissioner Mwanamvua Mrindoko has directed the Mpanda Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MUWASA) to intensify supervision of the 28 Towns Water Project to ensure it is completed on schedule and that residents begin benefiting from improved water services.

Mrindoko made the remarks during an inspection visit to assess the progress of the project in Mpanda Municipality, Katavi Region. She said the government is satisfied with the current implementation progress, noting that the project has reached approximately 55 percent completion.

She explained that despite some delays related to equipment expected to arrive from India, the overall construction progress remains encouraging.

“We have witnessed the progress of this project, and it has been explained that some equipment is expected to arrive from India. However, we are pleased to see that implementation has reached about 55 percent,” Mrindoko said.

She noted that the project is strategically important for improving water services in Mpanda town, as it is expected to increase water access from the current coverage of about 60 percent to approximately 95 percent.

Mrindoko further stated that the production capacity of the project will exceed the current water demand in Mpanda, a development expected to eliminate water rationing once the project is completed.
