Kapombe extends contract, Simba off to Türkiye
SHOMARI Kapombe has signed a contract extension with Simba that sees him remain with the Msimbazi Street Reds for the next two seasons.
The 31-year-old fullback joined the team in 2017 from Azam. His newly signed contract will put him in the club until 2025.
Apart from being a solid fullback, Kapombe has also played a key role in his squad, pocketing eight assists in the last Premier League season.
He is placed third in the table of players with more assists during the 2022/23 season. His teammates: Clatous Chama leads with 14 assists and Saido Ntibazonkiza with twelve assists.
Ayub Lyanga of Azam follows third, tied with Kapombe.
According to the above details, it makes Kapombe the top defender with more assists. Mohammed Hussein follows behind Kapombe with six assists.
Regarding Simba’s pre-season trip
Simba’s Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, said all preparations for the trip are complete as they leave for Turkey today.
Simba said all newly signed players and injected technical bench tacticians are part of the team’s full squad travelling for a pre-season camp in Turkey today.
“Every player we have signed will journey with the club to Turkey,” he said.
Additionally, he revealed that Head Coach Roberto Oliveira, who was on leave, had already landed in the country, ready to accompany his charges for the pre-season drills.
He also highlighted that all players going to Turkey have conducted thorough health screening and passed.
Simba have now sealed contracts with three new foreign-based players: Che Fondoh Malone, Essomba Onana, and Aubin Kramo.
In his brief remarks, Malone said: “Hello Simba fans, I am coming to Simba to play…thank you for accepting and loving me. I will do my best to ensure the club goes higher.”
Also, the Msimbazi Street Reds have injected three new faces in their tactical section, who are Mikael Igendia (Team Manager and Head of Sports Science), Corneille Hategekimana (Fitness Coach) and Danel Cadena (Goalkeeping Coach).
Simba expect to feature in two international contests, CAF Champions League and Africa Super Cup.
