Kairuki Hospital launches HIFU, a new tumor-removing technology

DAR ES SALAAM: FOR the first time in East and Central Africa, the technology to remove tumors from the body without surgery, known as High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) has been officially launched at Kairuki Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
The technology was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko and congratulated the hospital executives as well as its founder Hubert Kairuki and his wife for their determination in various issues including the provision of the HIFU service which has put Tanzania in the record of removing tumors without surgery in Africa, an issue which will also increase the country’s income.
In addition, he has commended Kairuki Hospital for providing a 50 percent discount on the cost of non-surgical tumor removal for the first 50 patients within a period of one month starting today, as an example of the hospital’s executives showing respect for Tanzanians, leaving a good mark, and supporting the government’s commitment to providing services to Tanzanians at affordable prices.
Dr. Biteko said that the holding of this important event is an example of the Tanzanian government under Samia Suluhu Hassan’s presidency to give impetus to the private sector and promote it to provide medical services to Tanzanian citizens effectively and bring closer services that were previously unavailable in the country, so he has promised that the government will continue to support the private sector.
