Kagera records 89.2pc Form One report for classes
KAGERA: A TOTAL of 57,771 students out of 64,783, who were selected to join Form One in Kagera Region for the academic year 2024 have to-date reported for classes.
Kagera Regional Education Officer (REO) Mr Michael Ligola explained that 30,166 of students who reporters were girls and 27,617 were boys.
Bukoba Municipal Council recorded the highest number with 3,684 students, who had reported out of 3,783 who were selected, equivalent to 97.2 per cent.
In Missenyi Council, a total of 5,457 students out of selected 5,659 had already reported, implying 96.4 per cent performance.
A total of 7,185 students had already reported for classes in Karagwe Council, out of 7,492 selected implying 95.9 per cent performance.
Ngara Council recorded 94.1 per cent performance with 5,993 students who had reported for classes out of 6,370 who were selected, while in Muleba Council, out of 18,033 students who were selected 16, 344 had already reported, implying 90.6 per cent performance.
A total of 7,334 students had already reported for classes in Bukoba DC out of 8,264 who were selected, implying 88.8 per cent performance while Kyerwa Council recorded 75.5 per cent performance with 5,885 students who had already reported for classes out of 7,498 who were selected.
In Biharamulo Council, a total of 5,889 students out of 7,685 who were selected had already reported, implying 76.6 per cent performance.
Mr Ligola further elaborated that to-date about 88,210 pupils had already been enrolled for Standard One implying 99.2 per cent of the expected 89,600 pupils.
He explained that the region’s expectation was to register a total of 91,542 pupils for Nursery education, while those registered were 88,086 implying 97.3 per cent performance.
He appealed to parents to ensure that no child is left behind taking into consideration that President Samia’s government was providing free education to all students.
