KIGALI : President Paul Kagame has been sworn in for another five-year term as the President of Rwanda after securing a sweeping victory in last month’s elections, where he garnered over 99 percent of the vote.
Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan is among of African Heads of State and leaders who witnessed the event in Kigali, Rwanda.
He took the oath of office before Chief Justice Faustin Ntezilyayo, pledging to “preserve peace and national sovereignty, consolidate national unity”.

The ceremony was attended by leaders and officials from various African countries, including presidents of the East African Community.
Kagame, who is also the chairman of the ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), has held the presidency since 2000.
He was first elected by ministers and members of parliament as the president of the transitional government following the resignation of then-President Pasteur Bizimungu.
