JKT storm into BDL 2025 finals after semi-final win over Pazi

DAR ES SALAAM: JKT team have secured their place in the 2025 Basketball Dar es Salaam League (BDL) finals after a hard-fought victory over powerhouse Pazi in Game 3 of the semifinals, held Thursday evening at Don Bosco Oysterbay in the City.

JKT edged Pazi 68–61 in a tense decider, capping off an intense semifinal series.

Led by standout performers such as Baraka Sadiki, JKT used their experience and composure to outplay one of the league’s toughest opponents and book their ticket to the championship game.

The semifinal clash began with JKT taking an early advantage in the series by winning Game 1, putting themselves in a strong position to advance.

However, Pazi, known for their depth and resilience, bounced back with a convincing 66–52 win in Game 2, forcing a decisive third matchup.

Thursday’s win means JKT now await the outcome of the other semifinal between defending champions Dar City which hold a game advantage and Stain Warriors—a newly promoted team that has impressed with its competitiveness this season.

Though in the women’s category, the final matchup is already confirmed.

Don Bosco Lioness booked their spot in the championship round after a 2-0 semifinal series sweep against Jeshi Stars. Lioness clinched Game 2 with a 77–68 win.

JKT Stars had earlier become the first team to reach the women’s final after eliminating DB Troncutti with a clean 2-0 sweep in their semifinal clash.

Organised by the Basketball Dar es Salaam Association (BD), the 2025 BDL brought together 16 men and 16 women’s teams competing for playoff positions, culminating in what has proven to be an exciting and competitive postseason.
