JKT Stars hit century mark as BDL 2025 hits up

DAR ES SALAAM: THE 2025 Basketball Dar es Salaam League (BDL) resumed with high-intensity action on Thursday at Don Bosco Upanga in the city, as teams in both men’s and women’s categories continued their push toward the playoff stages of the season.
In the women’s category, JKT Stars once again showcased their dominance with a sensational 101–22 demolition of City Queens.
The victory extended their unbeaten streak to 14 matches and further solidified their position at the top of the standings.
Also in women’s action, Twalipo Queens bounced back impressively, overcoming Kigamboni Queens 71– 59 in a competitive contest.
The win pushed Twalipo further into the upper half of the standings and kept their hopes alive in the chase for a top-eight finish.
In the men’s category, Polisi put on one of their best performances of the season with a commanding 97–58 win over bottom-placed Mgulani JKT.
Despite struggling throughout the season, Polisi looked sharp and composed, using their size and speed to take control early and maintain the lead.
Meanwhile, UDSM Outsiders continued their solid run with a convincing 73–53 win over Chui to tighten their grip on a mid-table spot and remain in the hunt for playoff qualification.
As of August 7th, the league standings have begun to take shape. In the men’s competition, Dar City remains unbeaten after 14 games and continues to lead the table. They are closely followed by JKT, Pazi and Stein Warriors, all battling for top-seed positioning.
The bottom of the table sees Mgulani JKT still winless, while Polisi, Mchenga and Kurasini Heat fight to stay afloat.
On the women’s side, JKT Stars and Jeshi Stars are dominating the leaderboard with near-perfect records, while Polisi Stars, Vijana Queens and Don Bosco Troncatti are all vying for the top four.
