JKT announces positions for voluntary military training

DODOMA: THE National Service (JKT) has announced positions for voluntary military training aimed at equipping Tanzanians with skills for self-employment.

In a recent announcement, JKT emphasised that these positions are not for sale and warned against conmen, stating that appropriate legal action will be taken against any fraudulent activities.

“These positions are not for sale; the training is provided free of charge to all young men and women from both the Mainland and Zanzibar, provided they meet the necessary qualifications,” said Colonel Juma Mrai, Acting Head of Administration in the National Service.

Addressing a news conference at the JKT head- quarters in Dodoma, Col Mrai clarified that the army will not be held account- able for any inducements made to parents or individuals attempting to pay for recruitment.

He announced the new positions for 2024 on behalf of the Chief of National Service (CNS), Major General Rajabu Mabele.

Col Mrai expressed concern over illegal activities, noting that some individuals have been misleading parents and guardians by claiming that JKT positions were available for purchase.

“We are aware of people soliciting money under false promises of recruitment,” he stated.

Interviews for youth aspiring to join the voluntary military training will commence on October 1, 2024, in all regions across the country.

Successful candidates will be required to report to JKT camps between November 1st and 3rd this year.

The recruitment process will be coordinated by Regional and District Commissioners in their respective areas.

Col Mrai reiterated that JKT is offering training aimed at enabling youth to become self-employed upon completion of their contracts, clarifying that the training is not intended to guarantee employment, as many may assume.

For details on applicant qualifications, Col Mrai directed interested candidates to visit the JKT website at www.jkt.go.tz.
