JKCI provides cardiac screening to 232 people at Sabasaba Fair

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) has provided cardiac screening and treatment services to 232 people at the ongoing Sabasaba trade fair hits its fourth day today.

JKCI is among the 3,400 companies participating in the 49th edition of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair at Julius Nyerere grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzanians who attended the screening hailed the move calling it very useful and time saving.

A resident of Kiwalani in Dar es Salaam, Sara Mkoni said it has become her habit to conduct cardiac screening at every Sabasaba Trade Fair.

“The screening is easily and quickly executed,” she said.

“I have been visiting the Sabasaba fair every year, and I have been here since the beginning,” she said.

Adding, Othman Maulid, a resident of Temeke, said that Sabasaba Trade Fair has brought every commodity or service to their doorstep.

“Heart screening is very essential, hence  I urge others to conduct health check-ups regularly,” he cautioned.

The Head of JKCI’s Public Relations and Communications Unit, Anna Nkinda, said the services provided by her institution include a test to check how the heart is working, a test to check the electrical system of the heart, tests to check the amount of sugar in the blood and to check high blood pressure.

“Other tests provided at our pavilion are a test to check the level of body fat, a test to check the functioning of the kidneys and liver, a test to check the level of minerals and salts in the body as well as nutrition education, the correct use of medicines and how to protect yourself from non-communicable diseases”
