INEC calls for diligence before swearing-in of election agents

SHINYANGA: THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on election officials for this year’s General Elections to ensure they provide timely information to political parties regarding the procedures for the swearing-in of their agents.
The aim is to ensure that election preparations proceed in accordance with existing laws and guidelines.
This directive was issued today, July 21, 2025, by INEC Chairperson, Justice Jacobs Mwambegele, while opening a three-day training session for election officials held in Shinyanga Region. The training is part of the preparations for the upcoming general election, expected to be held in October, on a date that will be officially announced by the Commission.
“When it comes to swearing in election agents, give early notice to political parties in accordance with the law, regulations, and Commission directives. Also, ensure they are provided with a list of polling stations so they can properly organize their agents,” said Justice Mwambegele.

These training sessions are ongoing across various regions of the country, aiming to build the capacity of election coordinators, supervisors, and assistant supervisors at the constituency level.
According to the Commission, the training is being conducted in two phases. The second phase includes the regions of Simiyu, Shinyanga, South Pemba, North Pemba, Mwanza, Mara, Dar es Salaam, Coast, Rukwa, Katavi, Manyara, Arusha, Songwe, and Mbeya.
