India repatriates 94 trafficked Tanzanians

TANZANIA: Some 94 Tanzanians, being victims of human trafficking have been repatriated from India, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced.
Speaking at a seminar on combating human trafficking, Mr. Ahmad Mwendadi, Head of Training, Advocacy, and International Cooperation in the Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasized the need for citizens seeking employment abroad to follow proper legal procedures, including verifying the registration status of potential employers.
The seminar, organized for representatives of organizations under the Union of Major Superiors of the Catholic Church, highlighted ongoing efforts to curb the illicit trade.

Mr Mwendadi stressed that the government is committed to protecting Tanzanians from falling preys to human traffickers, and urged job seekers, especially women and young girls to be cautious.
“If you do not follow the procedures, you risk being trafficked, and the consequences are severe. Victims often suffer greatly, with some even losing their lives,” he warned.
The government continues to prioritize the safety of citizens working abroad, reinforcing the need for strict adherence to employment regulations.
