Increase in Ruvu water volume a relief to Dar residents

COAST REGION: THE Minister for Water, Jumaa Aweso has inspected the volume of water flowing into the Ruvu Upper Water Treatment Plant located in Kibaha District, Coast Region and shown satisfaction with the speed of the water flow noting that it is going to improve water services to citizens in the country.
Speaking during the inspection, the minister said that the progress is part of the ongoing efforts of the government through the Ministry of Water, DAWASA and the Wami Ruvu Basin to address the water service shortage experienced in the regions of Dar es Salaam and Coast Region.
Elaborating, he said that he is confident that with the ongoing progress the challenge of water shortage will be addressed.

“I have seen the work underway, and I must say sincerely that I am encouraged, and it gives me great confidence that we will overcome this transition period safely,” he said.
Moreover, he said that the progress of the work is an important step in the efforts to provide sustainable water services to the residents of Dar es Salaam and Coast Region while urging citizens to use water carefully and to make it a habit to have containers for water storage.
“During this period, we will ensure that the available water is distributed fairly to every citizen,” he said.

Broad objective:
1. To conduct a qualitative study to identify the exposure, risk factors, and opportunities
for improved responses for GBV affecting girls, adolescents, youth, and women with
disabilities related to unpaid care activities carried out by caregivers and other social actors.
2. Develop a policy brief with evidence informed recommendations and roadmap to
strengthen the capacity of carers to address stigma and discrimination and prevent and respond
to GBV and promote protection measures for women and girls who are survivors of GBV for
adoption at national level.
