SINGIDA: THE “Imarisha Uchumi na Mama Samia” (IMASA) programme has been officially launched at the regional level in Singida, as part of the sixth phase government’s ongoing efforts to empower citizens economically.

During a meeting between the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) and Singida regional leaders, the Council’s Executive Secretary, Ms Beng’i Issa, said that Tanzania has a significant opportunity for greater economic growth through the empowerment of its citizens.

“Despite the various efforts already made by the government to uplift citizens economically, we must intensify these efforts to achieve our national goals,” she stated.

“This programme will focus on empowering women, youth and people with special needs across all 31 regions of mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.”

Ms Issa further elaborated that various government and non-governmental organisations would participate in implementing this initiative to ensure that the targeted groups receive full support.

Singida Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) Dr Fatuma Mganga, revealed that by June 30th this year, the region had received over 1.6bn/- allocated to women, youth and disabled fund accounts for providing loans to identified groups within the region.

In closing the meeting, Singida Regional Commissioner (RC) Ms Halima Dendego expressed a warm appreciation for the programme launch in the region.

She also extended her gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her tireless efforts to uplift the economic status of Tanzanians.

RC Dendego directed all seven councils within the region to prepare adequately for the effective implementation of the newly introduced programme.
