ICT training to enhance loan’s beneficiary employability

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) in collaboration with Adanian Labs Institute is set to provide Information Communication Technology’s (ICT) training to undergraduate students who are loan beneficiaries.

The capacity building programme will involve students who are not finalist and graduates in ICT and computer related bachelor degrees aiming at enhancing employability in the digital world.

“Our main goal is to see loan beneficiary graduates seizing job opportunities, in which, they can repay loans,” HESLB’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Omega Ngole told the ‘Daily News’ yesterday.

Mr Ngole said the HESLB targets 1,000 participants in the first batch of the programme covering four months.

He said the training is due to start on August 5th this year.

Mr Ngole said the programme will enable participants to cultivate soft digital skills, which are critical for them to create jobs or to be employed and hence have ability to repay HESLB’s loans.

He welcomed all students and graduates with interest in ICT to apply for the training through the link available at the loan board website.

Mr Ngole noted that the training is going to be provided by the Adanian Labs Institute.

He said finalist students in ICT and computer related degrees are also allowed to apply.

According to HESLB the training will be conducted online at fee free.

A participant will be required to have a computer with internet to join the training.

Adanian Labs’ Chief Technology Officers, Mr Bendon Murgor said participants will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in various areas encompassing block-chain fundamentals and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), looking on how they differ from traditional databases.

Mr Murgor said other topics are Hedera Hashgraph including how to develop and deploy applications, Smart Contracts, Cryptography and Tokenization.

Tokenization entails exploring the process of creating and managing digital tokens.

More significantly, he said the Adanian Labs will provide on innovation and entrepreneurship by encouraging participants to thinking and commercialisation block-chain technology.

“The primary motive of our training is to build capacity around smart technology, particularly in the context of the evolving Web 3.0 era that is driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) by providing comprehensive training and practical experience,” he commented to this newspaper.

He insisted that the programme seek at sparking innovation, supporting digital transformation, promote digital literacy and build a knowledge-based economy.

“Through this programme, we aim to position Tanzania as a leader in block-chain technology and smart technology adoption,” he said.
