Huwel overcomes tough rivals to win the Mkwawa Rally

MOROGORO: IRINGA’S Ahmed Huwel overcame powerful rivals to win the Mkwawa Rally of Morogoro after beating his closest challenger by over three minutes.
Huwel, who was navigated by Rahim Suleiman in hyper fast Toyota Yaris, clocked the event’s fastest time of 1 hour, 18 minutes and 47 seconds .
“The event was good and well organized. Still, the competetion was stiff though I emerged the fastest wheeler at the end,” said the winner.
was navigated by a Kenyan, Ravi Chana in a Mitsubishi Evo 9.
Birdi clocked 1 hour, 22minutes and 12 seconds, finishing ahead of the third-placed Samir Shanto in Ford Fiesta Proto.
Shanto clocked 1 hour, 24 minutes, and 06 seconds.
Ten cars managed to reach the podium out of 14 that attended a flag off on Saturday morning.
Fourth overall was Gurpal Sandhu from Arusha, who was navigated by Zambian David Sihoka in a Mitsubishi Evo X.

Sandhu spent 1 hour, 23 minutes, and 24 seconds, finishing ahead of the fifth-placed Waleed Nahdi who clocked 1 hour, 26 minutes and 04 seconds in Subaru Impreza N11.
Others who managed to finish the two-day rally included Charles Bicco, who was navigated by David Matete, Kartic Valambhia from Morogoro at the 7th position, and Randeep Singh, who claimed the 8th position.
