Hope as MusomaMakojo- Busekera road nears completion
MARA: MUSOMA Rural Member of Parliament, Professor Sospeter Muhongo, has emphasised the importance of the Musoma-Makojo-Busekera road in connecting all villages within Musoma Rural, thereby accelerating citizens’ economic development.
“This is the only road that will connect all 68 villages in our constituency. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the government under President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan,” he said.
Prof Muhongo highlighted that the 92-kilometre road is being constructed to bitumen standard. He added that the road would significantly strengthen socioeconomic activities in Musoma Rural and the wider country, while also easing citizens’ access to essential social services, including medical care.
In detailing the project, he noted that the government had already completed 5 kilometres of the road, stretching from Kusenyi Village to Suguti Village.

Additionally, the government has announced a construction tender for a further 40 kilometres of the road.
He recalled submitting the request for the road’s construction to President Dr Samia on February 26, 2022.
According to a statement from the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), the government has allocated funds for the construction of the road in the ongoing 2024/25 Financial Year.
This project aligns with the ruling CCM’s Election Manifesto 2020-2025, which focuses on promoting a modern, integrated, inclusive and competitive economy based on industrialisation, economic services and enabling infrastructure like roads.
It also supports the Third National FiveYear Development Plan (FYDP III) from 2021/22 to 2025/26, which emphasises unlocking transport infrastructure to promote growth. Under the Third National Five-Year Development Plan, the government aims to construct 6,006 kilometres of paved roads across the country.
