Heineken announces new business and multi-category portfolio in Tanzania
DAR ES SALAAM: Minister for Planning and Investment, Prof Kitila Mkumbo has witnessed the celebrations of the the leading global beverage company, Heineken celebrating its expansion beyond beer by announcing a new business and showcasing its newly acquired multi category portfolio of established brands in Tanzania.
speaking during the exclusive celebrations held at the Serene hotel in Dar es Salaam on Friday, Prof Mkumbo said that, the move marks an important step towards enhancing Tanzania’s investment landscape and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
“I am honoured to witness the launch of the new Heineken Portfolio in Tanzania…Heineken’s commitment to our market is evident, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact of their expanded portfolio on our economy and people,” the minister said.
The launching of the new brand follows the 2023 completion of the company’s acquisition of Distell Group Holdings Limited (‘Distell’) and Namibia Breweries Limited (‘NBL’) and consolidation in South Africa.
On his part, HEINEKEN’s Country Manager, Obabiyi Fagade, said the consolidation of their business to extend beyond beer marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth in Tanzania and is a demonstration of their belief as Heineken, in the economic growth and development in the country.

Guests savoured an evening filled with excitement, entertainment, and the chance to enjoy the unique taste of Heineken’s premium beverages from the multi-portfolio launch adding to the existing offerings of Heineken and Desperados in Tanzania.
The atmosphere was vibrant as attendees mingled and sampled the new offerings, which included ciders (Savanna and Hunter’s), wines (Drostdy Hof, 4th Street, Nederburg, Chamdor, Durbanville Hills), liqueur (Amarula), and spirits (Viceroy).
Heineken’s launch of the newly acquired established brands in Tanzania marks a significant milestone for Heineken Beverages International.
