Gwajima pushes for special groups opportunities through bank

DAR ES SALAAM: MINISTER for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Dr Dorothy Gwajima, has met and held talks with newly appointed Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Adam Mihayo and discussed various opportunities related to community development which people can benefit through the bank especially for sspecial groups.

During the meeting on Thursday in Dar es Salaam, Dr Gwajima also expressed gratitude to TCB for facilitating the Tanzania Development Festival, famously known as ‘ZIFIUKUKI’, which was held in mid-September this year in Dar es Salaam and Geita involving   over 30,000 people.

Recently, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Mr Mihayo as the new CEO of TCB.

Prior to assuming his new role, he worked as Executive Director at the Bank of Africa (BOA).

For his part, Mr Mihayo stated that the Bank will keep working with the Ministry to make sure that people, particularly those from special groups, are empowered and have access to economic opportunities for the country’s development.

Meanwhile, Dr Gwajima met with other development stakeholders, including the Director of the C-Sema (Child Helpline Tanzania), Mr Kiiya Joel, the AMO Foundation Director, Ms Amina Said, and the Meridian Bet representative, Amani Maeda, where among other issues they discussed on how they can work together to introduce various opportunities to the people.

During the sessions, the Minister was accompanied by the Director of the Foundation for Ambassadors Gender Development Initiatives (FAGDI), who is also the Anti-Violence Ambassador, Simon Mwapagata, who coordinates the ZIFIUKUKI Development Festivals.
