GST trumpets for its crucibles; they are ideal for smelting gold samples

GEITA: HANDLERS of laboratories engaged in mineral sample testing have been directed to use crucibles for melting gold-bearing samples, manufactured by the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST), to improve efficiency in gold sample testing through the fire assay method.

A Senior Technician at GST, Gideon Nshange, made the statement on Thursday when speaking to various stakeholders visiting the GST pavilion at the 8th National Mineral Technology Exhibition taking place at the Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan Grounds, Bombambili in Geita Region.

Explaining the features of the crucibles, he said that they are of high quality, with the capacity to withstand extreme heat of up to 1,400 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, Mr Nshange said that the crucibles are cost-effective, as they can be used to melt gold-bearing samples for more than three cycles.

According to Nshange, due to the high quality of the crucibles customer’s demand has continued to increase steadily, with the majority of initial users now becoming regular clients.

The GST has been producing these crucibles in different sizes, ranging from D60 to D65, for both local use and international clients for approximately 15 years now.
