Govt tasks GST to conduct a nationwide mineral resource program

THE government has directed the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) to embark on a nationwide Mineral Resources Program in a bid to collect data and research on a wide variety of minerals in priority areas across the country.

Deputy Minister for Energy, Stephen Byabato told the parliament that GST is charged with conducting mineral research in the country.

“GST is currently preparing a plan to conduct research on areas that appear to have minerals, including strategic minerals,” Mr Byabato said on Monday in Dodoma.
