Govt reminds clubs over Mkapa Stadium usage

DODOMA: THE Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports has issued a clear reminder to all football clubs about the proper procedures for using Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, following reports that Pamba Jiji FC trained in darkness at the venue without prior notice.
The statement was issued through a press release by the ministry, published on its social media platforms, including Instagram and signed by the Acting Head of the Communication Unit, Hassan Mabuye.
It stated that Pamba Jiji FC arrived at the stadium late Tuesday, around 06:35pm without informing the stadium management beforehand.By that time, electrical technicians had already left, which meant the stadium lights were off. The lights were only restored at 07:08pm after technicians were recalled.
The ministry expressed disappointment at the widespread sharing of blurred images showing players training in darkness, stressing that the fault lies entirely with Pamba Jiji FC for not following established protocols.
The statement added that the incident has negatively affected the reputation of the stadium management, which works diligently to enforce regulations.
Teams are urged to always submit prior notice when intending to use the stadium for training or matches, especially before final practice sessions, to ensure all necessary arrangements are made and to avoid unnecessary confusion.
The statement emphasised: “We remind all football teams to strictly adhere to the stadium’s regulations, including submitting advance notification for training sessions. Arriving without notice disrupts preparations and affects the facility’s operations. The ministry will continue to enforce these procedures to maintain the stadium’s standards and reputation.”
