ZANZIBAR: The government has assured Zanzibaris and Tanzanians at large that the upcoming elections will be conducted peacefully, despite growing concerns over potential instability.
The Minister of State in the Second Vice President’s Office (Policy, Coordination, and House of Representatives), Mr Hamza Hassan Juma, reiterated the government’s commitment to peaceful and transparent elections during an ongoing House of Representatives session.
He was responding to concerns raised by Mr Ameir Abdalla Ameir, Mwanakwerekwe Representative, who highlighted the rising tension caused by inflammatory statements from certain politicians.

“As the country prepares for elections this year on Mainland, followed by general elections across all regions, we appeal to political and NGO leaders to promote and uphold the prevailing atmosphere of peace,” said Mr Juma.
He added that both Presidents—Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania and Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi of Zanzibar—have pledged to ensure peaceful elections and have directed the administration to guarantee smooth democracy and freedom before, during, and after the elections.
