Govt highlights CRJE’s role in China-Tanzania ties

DODOMA: THE government has stated that CRJE’s pursuit of infrastructure projects have been instrumental in strengthening the China-Tanzania partnership.

The Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Dr Damas Ndumbaro, represented by Senior Official Mr Shoma Ndono, made the statement in Dodoma on Monday during the launch of CRJE’s Corporate Social Responsibility report.

“This collaboration exemplifies the strategic value of foreign investments in advancing key sectors and fostering long-term prosperity,” he said, adding that the Chinese construction company has been in the country for 55 years. The company, he said, has delivered over 200 projects, greatly impacting the environment, safety, employment and social responsibility.

“We appreciate this and hope our friendship continues to thrive for many years to come,” said Dr Ndumbaro.

In her speech, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian, congratulated CRJE for its significant contributions to social responsibility. She highlighted CRJE’s 55-year presence in Tanzania, saying its involvement in the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) is a landmark project fostering Sino-Tanzania friendship.

The Ambassador also mentioned key projects, including the Nyerere Bridge, Dodoma Convention Centre and University of Dodoma campus, with CRJE completing over 3.0 million square meters and 200 major projects. CRJE has been honoured three times as the best foreign contractor in Tanzania and has received the prestigious Luban Award for construction quality.

The Director of Investment Promotion at TIC, Mr John Mnali, thanked the Chinese firm at the sidelines of the event for launching the report and encouraged it to further address community challenges.

He commended the company’s support in education, infrastructure and environmental protection, highlighting its key role in Tanzania’s sustainable development goals. Mr Mnali said that transparency and accountability are fundamental to the company’s operations, urging others to follow suit.

He also called for continued collaboration between the company, the government and other institutions for the benefit of both nations, assuring that the country will ensure a conducive environment for investors.

CRJE Chairman, Jiang Yuntao, described the release of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report as a significant milestone and a reflection of their commitment to the society.

The chairman said CRJE’s philosophy is of building excellent projects and setting a benchmark in social responsibility. With over 260 million US dollars invested in projects like Johari Rotana and Noble Victoria Center, CRJE has actively supported the country’s economic development.

CRJE reaffirmed their dedication to infrastructure, community development and environmental protection, pledging continued collaboration with the Tanzanian government and local communities to foster national growth and improve lives.
