Govt creates support for women entrepreneurs
THE government is preparing a new framework aimed at empowering small-scale women entrepreneurs and facilitating their access to international funding opportunities.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to reduce gender inequality in the business sector and boost women’s economic participation.
Capital Markets and Securities Authorities (CMSA), Relations and Education Manager, Charles Shirima said yesterday that the government recognises the importance of empowering women through education and skill-building initiatives.
“The framework will enable women entrepreneurs to link with international organisations to access funding opportunities,” Mr Shirima said during the Women Creating Wealth workshop (WCW).
The CMSA manager said they also committed to equipping women with the necessary knowledge to thrive in business.
“We are also connecting them with small-scale investors and supporting them to access opportunities,” he said.
He further highlighted the importance of forming partnerships with external entities, which will help create more opportunities for women to elevate their businesses.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to boost women’s involvement in the economy that aiming to reduce gender inequality in the business sector “Women entrepreneurs across the country are expected to benefit from the upcoming changes once the framework is implemented,” he said.
WCW’s Country Manager Anabahati Mlay said the organisation’s ongoing efforts to support women entrepreneurs across the country, with an ambitious goal of driving economic growth and creating job opportunities.
“We have successfully connected over 800 women from various regions across the country, equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in business.
“The importance of collaboration and mentorship in helping women entrepreneurs grow and thrive,” she said.
She said their long-term vision, which includes generating 1.0bn/- in revenue and creating 200,000 jobs for youth. One of the workshop attendees, Mary Kiria, said women play a critical role in driving economic growth and societal development.
“Empowering women is not just about uplifting individuals; it’s about uplifting entire communities.
When women are given the tools and support, they need, they create businesses that generate income, jobs and positive change for everyone around them,” Ms. Kiria said.
WCW committed to supporting women, helping them access resources and providing them with the skills required to elevate their businesses, ultimately fostering sustainable economic growth for both women and the broader Tanzanian community.
