GGML launches a campaign to empower school girls
GEITA Gold Mining Company Limited (GGML) has launched a special campaign to empower and motivate school girls for them to go through the right paths and achieve their goals.
The launch of the campaign was held recently at Nyankumbu Girls’ Secondary School located in Geita Town. The school girls were given opportunity to meet and share experiences with female specialists from various sectors.
Speaking on the campaign, GGML’s Senior Public Relations Manager, Mr Manace Ndroma said they aim to change the local minds of school girls so that they can believe in themselves and pass the right path.
“This is an opportunity to increase and produce more engineers, more doctors and other specialists of various professions, who can later work and develop the mining sector but also, develop other sectors as well,” he said
He added “Here, they will be taught on how to take care of themselves as girls, they will be directed how to prepare and choose the right subjects of interests that will lead them to attain their dreams.
Nyankumbu Girls’ Secondary School Headmistress, Ms Georgiana Mugashe admitted that the campaign will shape the girls mindsets for them to stand firm to attain their goals, fulfill their responsibility and develop self-management ability.
On his side, the Geita Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Prof Godius Kahyarara pointed out that for school girls to achieve their goals, the community as a whole must take responsibility to protect them against any misleading acts.
“Therefore, our message is that every parent should take responsibility to guide and protect his or her child. The government is doing its part, parents and society should do their part too,” he insisted.
