DODOMA: COMMISSIONER General of the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA), Mr Aretas Lyimo, has commended the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA) for timely issuing of forensic results that enhance efficiency in fighting illegal drugs in the country.
Commissioner Lyimo made the statement on Monday in Dodoma recently when he visited the GCLA pavilion at Nyerere Square where the Law Week is marked.
“I congratulate you (GCLA) for conducting forensics using the modern equipment purchased by the Six-Phase Government.
He said the GCLA has strong systems of forensics which helps in exchanging information with other stakeholders over criminal justice.
“These systems enhance performance and help other institutions such as judiciary to further contribute to national wellbeing,” he said.
His remarks were echoed by Judge of the High Court, Dar es Salaam Zone, Justice David Ngunyale who said the DNA tests conducted by the GCLA have significantly improved as compared to the past.
“The issuance of reports of DNA tests has improved, currently reports are issued timely,” Judge Ngunyale stated when visited the GCLA pavilion.
On her part, the Judge in Charge of the High Court of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Zone, Justice Salma Maghimbi, commended the authority, which is among stakeholders in justice delivery, for participating in the Law Week commemorations.
The Law Week commemorations started on January 24, 2024, and will climax tomorrow.
