Gamondi: It was a deserved win

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans coach Miguel Gamondi described his side’s 3-0 win over KMC as a deserved victory while crediting his players for the good job well done.

A brace by Mudathir Yahya and a goal from Pacome Zouzoua at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro over the weekend enabled the defending champions to launch the season’s second-round fixtures on top gear. At a post-match briefing, Gamondi reiterated that they had to win the match to keep scaling up the league ladders.

“Of course, we are happy with this success, it was not easy but we fought hard to earn this important win and it is what makes us happy now,” he said.

So far, Yanga are in the league driver’s seat with 43 points having scored 39 goals from 16 games of which, KMC has contributed 8 goals after conceding 5-0 in the first-round duel.

On his part, KMC trainer Abdihamid Moallin accepted the defeat saying his charges played under pressure from many Yanga fans who turned up at the venue.

“Unfortunately, we do not play at a packed stadium all the time and Yanga supporters put a lot of pressure on our players a thing that orchestrated the defeat,” he said.

Also, Moallin revealed that they are going to work on the setbacks that emerged to become stronger in their next matches as they have many league games to play. His skipper Awesu Awesu said they faced a big side which has quality players capable of changing the match as it unfolded and that they failed to put into practice what they trained for.

“Yanga is a big team, they have quality players and that was seen during the match as they were able to dominate the encounter no wonder, they excelled to net three goals,” Awesu said.

He further pointed out that despite the nosedive, they are going to work hard to claim maximum points in their upcoming fixtures.

“I believe that our technical bench has seen what went wrong throughout the match and we are going to work on them ahead of other upcoming league fixtures as the season is far from over,” he said.

The Kinondoni-based side continued to remain in fifth place with 22 points from 16 clashes and it was their fourth defeat of the campaign.
