BJUJUMBURA, BURUNDI: Tanzanian volleyball teams are set to compete in the International Beach Volleyball Pro Tour tournament in Burundi.
The tournament will run for four days, starting tomorrow and culminating on Saturday in Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi.
Zakaria Bizimana, the Technical Committee Director of the Tanzania Volleyball Federation, confirmed that four teams will represent Tanzania in the competition.
The four teams are: three men’s teams and one women’s team.
Each team consists of pairs of two players, making a total of eight players on each team.
In the men’s category, three teams will participate: Allan Mori and Ramadhan Ramadhan, Joseph Mafuru and Omary Bure and Lameck Suligi and Geofrey Kitila.
The women’s team from Tanzania will consist of Leah Emmanuel and Victoria Mwita.
Bizimana expressed confidence in the preparedness of the teams and their ability to compete at the tournament.
“This is an open tournament that any team can register, unfortunately, we have four Tanzania teams confirmed at the event. It is an ideal event to develop and promote our game and learn from others.”
He also emphasised the event’s significance as an opportunity for the Tanzanian teams to develop, promote the sport and gain knowledge from other teams.
Lameck David, one of the Tanzanian players participating in the tournament, expressed excitement and confidence in their preparation.
He acknowledged that their opponents might have more experience.
Still, he remains optimistic about their chances and views the event as an opportunity to display talent on the global stage and learn from more established teams.
