FIFA slaps Yanga with fine

TANZANIA: THE FIFA Football Tribunal’s Dispute Resolution Chamber has ruled in favour of Ghanaian forward, Augustine Okrah, in his dispute with Young Africans.

The tribunal ordered Yanga to pay Okrah 24,400 US Dollars in outstanding wages, partially upholding his claim for unpaid remuneration, FIFA said in a statement.

In addition, FIFA slapped Yanga with 3,000 US Dollars, which must be paid to the governing body within 30 days.

The fine is to be deposited into a specified FIFA account, with reference to the case number FPSD-15711.

FIFA has issued a stern warning to Yanga, outlining strict consequences if the club fail to comply with the ruling.

“If the full payment, including any applicable interest, is not made within 45 days, Young Africans will face a transfer ban, preventing them from registering new players domestically and internationally for up to three consecutive transfer windows or until the debt is cleared.

“If Young Africans still fail to make the payment after this ban, the matter will be referred to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which could impose further sanctions,” the statement noted.

The Ghanaian forward, who left Simba SC after scoring four goals and providing one assist in Premier League matches, joined Young Africans SC on a two-year contract.

However, he was unable to meet the club’s expectations during his time with them.

Following his departure from Yanga, the player returned to Ghana, where he currently plays for Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League.
