Female boxers to rock in Samia Boxing tourney

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Samia Women’s Boxing Championship 2025 kicks off today at Kawe Beach Club in Dar es Salaam, marking the start of an exciting competition.

Organised by the Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT), the tournament aims to scout talent for the National Team while promoting women’s participation in the sport.

The BFT Women and Players Committee Chairperson, Asha George, underscored the importance of the event for building a competitive national team ahead of the 14th Women’s World Boxing Championship in Niš, Serbia, from February 6 to March 17.

“This championship is a key part of our preparations for the 14th Women’s World Boxing Championship. It will play a crucial role in strengthening our national team as we aim for success on the global stage,” she said.

This marks Tanzania’s second participation in the World Championship, following their debut in New Delhi, India, in March 2023.
