TANZANIA: The body of the former Prime Minister, Edward Lowassa will be laid to rest at his Ngarash-Monduli home village in Arusha on February 17, 2024
According to information released by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, tomorrow (Tuesday), there will be a State funeral at the Karimjee Grounds in Dar es Salaam, followed by a holy mass at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania, Azania Front in the city on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the body will be flown to Arusha where citizens will pay respects at the Sheikh Amri Abeid stadium and thereafter the body will be taken to his ancestral home at Monduli village in Arusha.
The timetable further states that, on Friday another holy mass will be held at his home village.
On Saturday, there will a burial mass ceremony conducted at the Ngarash-Monduli, where leaders and the public will also have the opportunity to pay their last respects.
The former PM passed away on Saturday at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) in Dar es Salaam, where he was undergoing treatment for a long-term illness, according to the Vice President Philip Mpango and a family member.
