Expert: Why companies struggle to execute plans, strategies perfectly

According to the expert, the core issue lies in leadership. Many leaders fail to take ownership of the execution process, instead delegating critical tasks to lower-level employees

DAR ES SALAAM: While most organizations and companies develop well-crafted plans and strategies, many fail to execute them effectively because they are not realistic.

Said Saif Al Harth, Executive Director of Tanfidh Management Consultants Limited, made this observation at a press briefing on Monday while introducing a new training and consultancy program designed to help executives achieve their companies’ goals.

According to the expert, the core issue lies in leadership. Many leaders fail to take ownership of the execution process, instead delegating critical tasks to lower-level employees without offering proper training or guidance.

“Many organizations do not assess the performance of those tasked with execution, leading to fragmented efforts and failure to achieve strategic objectives,” he explained.

He emphasized that while most organizations are proficient at formulating strategies, effective execution remains a persistent challenge.

“No matter how well a strategy is developed, it becomes meaningless without implementation. We’ve seen many strategic plans locked away in drawers, forgotten. Everyone in the organization must be involved in the planning process,” Mr. Said stated.

To bridge this gap, Mr. Said stressed the importance of accountability and inclusivity, urging organizations to involve employees at all levels in strategy development and execution.

He added that agility, flexibility, capability-building, continuous learning, and adaptation are now essential for business success.

“Before writing a strategy, leaders must ask themselves whether it is realistic or simply a copy-and-paste from another organization. Many companies adopt strategies without tailoring them to their unique situations, and these plans often fail,” he noted.

With the global economy presenting new challenges, Tanfidh’s training program highlights the importance of creating differentiated strategies that can provide a competitive advantage provided they are executed flawlessly.

Tanfidh aims to support organizations with training programs, consultancy services, and sustainable systems to ensure the successful implementation of their strategic plans.
