DAR ES SALAAM: The ICC U-19 men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifiers are set to commence, with eight teams from across Africa gearing up for the ten-day competition.
The event will take place from August 2 to 11 at two venues at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) and the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in Dar es Salaam.
The Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) Chairman Balakrishna Sreekumar confirmed yesterday in Dar es Salaam that the country is fully prepared to host the tournament with the fixture details revealed that the eight participating teams have been divided into two groups of four.
Group A comprises Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Botswana and Malawi, while Group B includes hosts Tanzania, Nigeria, Mozambique and Ghana.
And according to the tournament fixture the event will kick off with hosts Tanzania playing Nigeria at the DGC on August 2 and later on the same day, Ghana will face Mozambique at the UDSM ground.
Tanzania’s remaining group-stage matches will see them compete against Ghana at UDSM on August 4, followed by a match against Mozambique at DGC on August 6.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, scheduled for August 9.
Group A’s top team will face Group B’s runner-up and Group B’s top team will play against Group A’s runner-up with the final match set for August 11.
The Tanzania U-19 team is in peak form, having undergone intensive training to prepare for this crucial tournament.
Under the guidance of head coach Rivash Gobind, the team has participated in several trial games to refine their skills and improve team cohesion.
These preparations have been vital for their bid to secure a place in the prestigious ICC U-19 World Cup.
