EWURA to inspect all fuel stations in Northern zone

DODOMA: THE Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) is set to launch a large-scale operation to inspect all fuel stations across the Northern Zone regions to ensure that petroleum products supplied at the pumps meet the required standards.

“In case a customer suspects that a certain pump has sold them spiked fuel or contaminated gasoline and diesel, they can always report the matter to EWURA, so that he or she may get compensated,” said EWURA Northern Zone Manager, Engineer Lorivii Long’idu.

He added that the same applies to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which EWURA also regulates.

“Customers must always ensure that gas cylinders are filled with proper gas and at the correct capacity,” he said.

“We are especially keen on domestic gas because the country is currently encouraging Tanzanians to adopt safe and clean gas for environmental protection. Therefore, it is important for business entities to supply proper gas to their customers as part of this national drive,” Eng Long’idu added.

Speaking at the EWURA pavilion at the ongoing Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibitions at Themi Hills, Arusha, he emphasised that domestic gas pricing should be kept affordable for all Tanzanians.

Eng Long’idu also directed water service authorities to ensure fair billing systems and urged them to adopt digital invoicing for effective and timely delivery of bills to customers.
