Samia pledges mega projects to further develop Pemba residents

CHAKECHAKE: THE successful implementation of the new trade opportunities, construction of schools, expansion of water infrastructure, and development of sports facilities heralded the campaign of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi(CCM) presidential candidate in her tour of Pemba.

The CCM  presidential candidate, Samia Suluhu Hassan today addressed a large campaign rally at Gombani ya Kale grounds in Chake Chake, outlining her government’s achievements and pledges for the people of Pemba.

In her speech, Samia highlighted key milestones that have already been implemented, including the opening of new trade opportunities, the construction of schools, classrooms, and teachers’ houses, the expansion of water infrastructure, and the development of sports facilities, such as the Gombani Stadium. She also pointed out the government’s efforts to boost industrial growth, particularly with the establishment of clove oil processing factories.

Looking ahead, Samia promised major projects aimed at unlocking Pemba’s economic potential. These include the construction of a new airport to support the tourism sector, the development of key roads such as the Chake Chake–Mkoani highway, and the building of Wete Port to enhance trade and connectivity.

The candidate also emphasized long-term national strategies, noting that both the Zanzibar Government and the Union Government will continue to collaborate on programs to ensure Tanzanians benefit from clean energy. She said the target is for 80 percent of citizens to access clean energy by 2034, with ongoing investments in hydropower, solar, and wind energy.

Samia further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing climate change and its impacts through joint initiatives.

Concluding her address, she urged Pemba residents to safeguard peace, unity, and stability, while encouraging them to turn out in large numbers to cast their votes on election day.
