Dr Mwinyi calls on politicians to uphold political ethics, avoid divisive politics

ZANZIBAR: THE President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Alhaj Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has called on religious leaders, politicians, journalists, and the Isles’ citizens at large to strongly condemn any statements that can threaten peace and stability of the nation, especially this time when the country approaches the General Elections.
Dr. Mwinyi made the remarks while speaking at the Maulid celebration held at the Ziwani Police College Hall, where he emphasized that no nation can achieve meaningful development without lasting peace.

In his address, President Mwinyi urged politicians to uphold political ethics by avoiding hate speech, incitement, and divisive politics that could lead to conflict among citizens. He stressed that it is the responsibility of every individual to safeguard and maintain the prevailing peace and stability in the country.

Additionally, President Mwinyi encouraged followers of the Islamic faith to adhere to the true teachings of their religion in order to foster unity and love within society. He underscored his message by stating, “Peace and stability are a treasure,” highlighting the immense value of peace, which he said should never be taken for granted.
