DAR ES SALAAM: VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango is expected to open Renewable Energy Week 2025 exhibitions in May, to emphasise the critical importance of sustainable energy in advancing a greener, more resilient future for Tanzania.
The Chairman of the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA), Mr Prosper Magali, announced in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the exhibition will be held in partnership with the Ministry of Energy.
“Renewable energy is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy security and driving sustainable economic growth. We urge all stakeholders and Tanzanians to join in a collective effort to help the government tackle the pressing challenges of climate change,” he said.
He stated that the oneweek exhibition aims to support the government in tackling the urgent and escalating challenges of climate change, while emphasising the essential role of sustainable energy in creating a greener, more resilient future for Tanzania.

Mr Magali said the association is committed to supporting the government’s efforts in mitigating the impacts of climate change by ensuring that renewable energy solutions remain environmentally friendly.
Available statistics show that climate change is impacting Tanzania’s economic growth, resulting in an annual loss of one percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Moreover, he said they will continue to create a friendly environment in collaboration with the government and other stakeholders to ensure that education on renewable energy reaches all Tanzanians.
He said the participation of more people will help drive innovation collaboration and action in combating climate change and advancing renewable energy solutions.
The Association’s Deputy Chairperson, Ms Brenda Kazimili, added that the exhibition will feature several activities, including networking opportunities, showcases and training and learning sessions. There will be an exhibition on solar, wind, geothermal energy and sustainable cooking solutions.
“It will also focus on empowering women and marginalised groups to participate in renewable energy initiatives as well as bridging the gap between academia and industry, encouraging students to explore careers in this rapidly growing sector,” she said.
This year’s theme is: ‘Empowering Sustainability, Advancing Renewable Energy Solutions’. In addition, she said they expect between 500 and 800 participants and more visitors.
“Exhibitions will be held between 26 and 29 May in parallel with the workshop sessions on renewable energy trends and energy efficiency practices, training sessions on the latest solar equipment technologies and opportunities for the private sector,” she insisted.
