DR Congo delivers humanitarian aid to refugees in Kigoma

KIGOMA: THE government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has delivered humanitarian assistance to refugees at the National Mills Centre (NMC) refugee reception facility in Kigoma.
The items were delivered by the Minister of State in charge of Social Welfare, Humanitarian Affairs and Solidarity from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Eve Masudi, who led the delegation from DRC
The minister handed over to UNHCR leadership 2,000 bags of rice, 2,000 bags of maize flour, bags of beans, as well as boxes of sanitary towels for women.
The supplies will be included in food distributions for refugees at Nyarugusu Refugee Camp.

Additionally, Minister Masudi conveyed her gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for the brotherly cooperation extended by the Tanzanian government, which made the visit possible while describing the trip as a first and unique opportunity for the DRC delegation to visit and stand in solidarity with their fellow citizens.
Speaking during the handover event, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in charge of East African Affairs, James Millya, thanked the DRC for supporting the efforts of the Tanzanian government and UNHCR in caring for refugees.
Meanwhile, the UNHCR Resident Representative, Barbara Bentum-Williams Dotse, expressed her appreciation upon receiving the assistance and thanked Tanzania for working hand in hand with UNHCR in supporting refugees, especially at a time when international funding for refugee assistance has significantly declined.
