Dr Biteko calls on Tanzanians to uphold respect, justice, unity
MWANZA: THE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr Doto Biteko, has urged Tanzanians to uphold values of mutual respect, justice, and unity, stressing the importance of constructive dialogue guided by faith and national values.
Speaking on Sunday at the national commemoration of the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) Day, held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) Ebenezer Parish in Pasiansi in Mwanza, Dr. Biteko called on Tanzanian citizens to embrace respectful criticism and avoid divisive rhetoric.
Dr. Biteko reaffirmed the government’s commitment to listening to all citizens in its efforts to foster a peaceful and loving nation, urging people to respect the rule of law and the country’s constitution.

He praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership in promoting national unity, peace, and cooperation, citing her continued engagement with religious leaders, the restoration of public gatherings, and the implementation of the “4Rs” – Reconciliation, Respect, Rebuilding, and Resilience.
“I want to assure you that President Samia’s doors are open. She envisions a united Tanzania, one where people love and support each other to drive the country forward,” Dr. Biteko stated.

He further noted that the government will continue working closely with the CCT and other faith-based organizations, in line with national development frameworks, including the 1996 National Social Development Policy.

Dr. Biteko acknowledged the significant contributions of CCT to national development, especially in sectors such as health, education, economic empowerment, spiritual nurturing, and the promotion of peace.
He urged Tanzanians to remain united and avoid divisions, calling on citizens to continue praying for the country’s unity and stability.
