Dozens escape from Comoros main prison by walking out

COMORO: The authorities in the Comoros say dozens of prisoners have escaped from a prison in the capital Moroni, by simply walking through the main gate.

The islands’ public prosecutor, Ali Mohamed Djounaid, said 38 inmates were missing from Moroni Prison, the largest in the archipelago.

He blamed negligent security guards.

A government spokesperson said the escape appeared to have been pre-planned.
