Dodoma claims lead in terms of mineral diversity

DODOMA: THE Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule, has announced that Dodoma is the leading region in Tanzania in terms of the diversity of minerals found there.

This statement is based on official data from the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST).

Senyamule made the remarks today during the launch ceremony of small-scale mining equipment and tools provided by the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO). The event took place at the Jakaya Kikwete International Conference Centre in Dodoma and was graced by the Prime Minister. She delivered greetings from the region and highlighted the opportunities and progress achieved under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

“Honourable Prime Minister, since President Samia took office, we in Dodoma have witnessed tremendous blessings. According to GST’s report, Dodoma is now officially recognized as the region with the highest number of different mineral types in the country,” said Senyamule.

However, she admitted that when GST first released this information, some people were skeptical, questioning the lack of visible mining activities if the region truly had such a rich mineral presence. In response, the regional leadership prioritized strategies for harnessing these resources to drive economic growth and development in the region.

Currently, the region is implementing various strategic measures to ensure that its mineral wealth benefits the local population. These include promoting investment, advancing the use of technology, and encouraging small-scale miners to adopt modern machinery and safer mining techniques.
