DCEA wins top award for best financial reporting

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) has emerged as the winner of the prestigious award for excellence in financial reporting for the year 2024, in compliance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for autonomous government institutions.
The award was presented on December 4, 2025, by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) during a ceremony held in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking after receiving the award, DCEA Commissioner General Aretas Lyimo congratulated the finance and accounting unit for their outstanding work in preparing the financial reports, which led to their victory.
“I thank all DCEA staff, especially the finance and internal audit team, for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to ensuring our financial reports meet international standards,” Commissioner General Lyimo said.
He added that the award is a testament to DCEA’s commitment to adhering to financial laws, procurement regulations, and guidelines issued by the Treasury.

“DCEA upholds transparency, accountability, and proper utilization of public resources entrusted to us to serve the people,” Mr Lyimo said, expressing his honor at being recognized by NBAA.

The Commissioner General noted that this award serves as motivation to continue striving for excellence in ensuring DCEA maintains transparency, integrity, and good governance in managing its resources.
This marks the eighth time DCEA has won this award since 2017, and the authority remains committed to collaborating with stakeholders to fulfill its mandate effectively for the benefit of all Tanzanians.
