Davids lauds tactical discipline
DARES SALAAM: SIMBA SC’s head coach, Fadlu Davids, heaped praise on his team’s defensive masterclass after a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Al Ahly Tripoli in their away fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The match, played at the 11 June Stadium in Tripoli, Libya, on Sunday, showcased Simba’s resilience and tactical discipline.
Davids singled out the team’s defensive performance as a key factor in their valuable point on the road to the group stage.
He emphasised the collective effort and strategic execution displayed by his players, attributing the clean sheet to their unwavering commitment and tactical prowess.
“We had a very strong defensive performance from the players,” Davids remarked, acknowledging the team’s ability to work as a cohesive unit under pressure.
He noted that while previous matches demonstrated Simba’s attacking flair, this game showcased their improvement in defending without possession.
The coach pointed out the few but significant scoring chances his side managed to create in the first half, stressing the importance of capitalising on such opportunities in away matches where chances are limited.
Davids praised the tactical discipline of his players in closing down spaces effectively, particularly against an opponent with strong attacking capabilities.
