Dar sees bright future in modelling, global pageants
DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA’S performance in the future Miss World pageants and other model- ling contests is likely to hit a sky-high, as the state of the arts academy for the artists has started functioning.
The official launch of a kid’s academy known as Vesta Fashion Kids Agency is ex- pected to be held early next year.
The academy aims to nurture the talents of young girls to prepare them when they are still young and those who will be trained there are expected to change the country’s status in both beauty and modelling sectors.
Youths who are currently being groomed to become models will be included to participate in various events in the future including Mr and Miss Tanzania and Miss World.
Speaking with the ‘Dai- ly News’ over the weekend the Russian international model, Katerina Volkova, who is in the country noted that the academy will in-
volve over 500 kids.
She said that among oth- ers it aims to play a big role in helping girls who are pas- sionate about modelling.
Volkova added that in this century fashion had become one of the most important when it comes to self-employment, beau- ties can become famous and develop their brand through modelling.
She emphasizes that fashion can be an important platform to tell a story to a targeted audience through clothing and creativity, moreover, it has succeeded in delivering the best message.
Therefore, it is a great opportunity for the girls to be part of the academy.
The Russian model also said that she would tour lo- cal schools as part of iden- tified talent and introduce them to modelling and fashion as early as possible.
However, Volkova stated that she would discuss with the selected kid’s parents/guardians for their permission before taking any steps.
Adding, she said the academy will include mod- elling, acting, and TV hosting.
Furthermore, she said. the kids will also engage in advert and promo shoots, act in movies and series as well as host TV programs where they will showcase their talents in the fashion industry.
Revealing why she plans to open the academy, she said: “It is because of the experience attained in the modelling industry worked for several years.
