Dar RC, fuel firms explore means to boost security in pump stations.

DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, today led a special discussion of fuel stakeholders on the security and better marketing of fuel.

Chalamila met with Diesel and Petrol Fuel stakeholders in a special session organized by the Energy Regulatory Authority (EWURA).

Chalamila, in the session, led a broad discussion on the security and safety of fuel stations following the recent crime committed by groups of youth who do not wish the country well.

At different times, various fuel stations were burned down, causing huge losses to the traders, where through the discussion, stakeholders have had the opportunity to provide opinions and advice aimed at strengthening the sector following the effects that occurred.

In addition, Chalamila has apologized to the stakeholders and continued to encourage them that the government is still shoulder to shoulder with the traders because they have a great contribution to the economic chain of individuals but also the Nation as a whole.

“It is good now to properly coordinate the sale of fuel to the utilities, because you cannot completely prevent it because there are areas or devices that use that energy that require fuel to be transported such as telephone towers and boats” he said.

The Dar RC also urged stakeholders and the community in general to continue providing education to the youth especially in their groups such as motorcycles, and bikers to recognize the importance of protecting and maintaining peace in the Region since Dar es Salaam serves many landlocked countries along with the existence of many income-generating activities and excellent health services.

Finally, the stakeholders thanked the government and asked it to talk to the banks from which they borrowed money to give them some time to be able to plan to repay the loans.

In retrospect, the Ilala District Commissioner, Mr Edward Mpogolo, advised the traders to increase security but also to not have any other businesses at petrol stations to ensure greater security.

  1. The to be discussed is as to how the situation happened we had long time period more than 4 decades were there was no special discussion about securing the stations.. why should it be now.
I believe with more wisdom, one should stick to eliminate the risk factors.
