Dar RC adds fuel to Clean Energy campaign

DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila has urged women to embrace the use of clean energy in their daily lives.

Speaking an event known as pika kijanja emphasizing the use of clean energy in Dar es Salaam. He emphasized that using clean energy sources like gas or electricity for cooking helps to protect their health and that of their families.

He noted that many women in the region still rely on charcoal and firewood, which release harmful smoke and contribute to respiratory diseases.

‘’Clean energy not only reduces these health risks but also improves the overall quality of life in households,’’he said

In addition to health benefits, He pointed out the environmental impact of traditional energy sources. Deforestation and air pollution caused by firewood and charcoal use can be significantly reduced if more people switch to cleaner options. He called on the community to play a role in protecting the environment for future generations.

Acting Director General of the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), Daphrosa Kimbory acknowledged the efforts by the government and various organizations in promoting access to clean energy.

She encouraged continued collaboration between public and private sectors to make clean energy more affordable and accessible, especially for low-income families.

She encouraged women to be leaders in the adoption of clean energy. By making informed choices, women can not only safeguard their health but also contribute to sustainable development in Dar es Salaam and beyond.
