Dar firm joins efforts to safeguard youth’s reproductive health

The launch event took place today, 10th September, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, and was graced by the brand ambassador and journalist Najma Paul. Olso attended included various stakeholders in reproductive health, business leaders, and women’s rights advocates.

The launch of ARI Sanitary Pads forms part of broader efforts to enhance reproductive health for women and girls in Tanzania, with stakeholders continuing to advocate for improved access to menstrual products for all.

Najma also called on the government to remove taxes on the production of sanitary pads, arguing that the high cost of menstrual products is largely due to taxation, which makes them unaffordable for many girls.

“This is a crisis. It’s a huge outcry. We need Members of Parliament to intervene and amend the laws so that tax on sanitary pads is completely removed. The demand is overwhelming, and it’s crucial that these products are accessible to everyone,” said Najma.

Perpetua Ntwale, the Public Relations Officer for Beneficial Company Ltd, stated that the company, in collaboration with various partners, has already visited numerous schools across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar to distribute sanitary pads and provide menstrual health education. However, she also appealed to the government to eliminate taxes in order to reduce production costs and increase affordability and accessibility.

Erasto Margwe, the company’s Marketing Officer, noted that men play a vital role in supporting access to safe sanitary products within families. He stressed that male involvement in menstrual health education is an important step in ensuring that girls receive adequate menstrual care.
