Dar derby fetches 411m/-

OVER 400m was collected during the Dar es Salaam derby between Simba and Young Africans, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) revealed on Thursday.

TFF said it has collected a total of 411m/- as the gate collection from the derby staged last Sunday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

According to the report posted by TFF, the collection came from 53,569 sports fans who attended the match.

Explaining further, the report said 340 fans bought VIP A tickets at 30,000/- whereas TFF pocketed 10.2m/-

VIP B seats were occupied by 4,160 fans at 20,000/- per ticket, from that TFF collected 83.2m/-.

Furthermore, 2004 fans bought VIP C tickets each priced at 15,000/- and that enabled the federation to pocket 30.1m/-.

While the orange seats had 10,372 fans who bought tickets at 10,000/- and the TFF collected 104m/- while the ordinary seats were occupied by 36,693 people who bought tickets at 5,000/- to earn   the federation 183.5m/-.

Moreover, the report showed the income from the total collection was distributed to various football bodies including the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB)  who fetched 25.2m/-.

Additionally, 10.44m/- was allocated to the National Sports Council (NSC), 22.6m/- as ticket cost, and 22.05m/- was distributed to the running cost.

The statement also showed 47.25m/- was allocated for the reconstruction and maintenance of the Benjamin stadium, while 62.64m/- was paid as the Value Added Tax (VAT).

The statement further said 189m/- was allocated to hosts Simba, while 18.89m/- was paid to the Dar es Salaam Regional Football Association (DRFA).

This year’s Dar es Salaam Derby saw Simba claim a 2-0 victory over their traditional rivals.

Simba netted their both goals in the first half through Henock Inonga in the 2nd minute and Kibu Dennis sealed the victory with a blockbuster in the 32nd minute

The victory enabled Simba to reduce an eight-point gap to 5 points with four matches before the league climaxes in May this year.
