CSSC marks World Pharmacists Day by training regional pharmacists

DAR ES SALAAM: The Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) of Tanzania has provided training to pharmacists as part of activities to commemorate World Pharmacists Day.
As well, the commission lauded health stakeholders who have been at the forefront of ensuring continuous improvement in the sector to deliver more effective services.
Speaking during the celebrations in Dar es Salaam, today, September 25, 2025, the Executive Director of the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI), Dr. Mpoki Ulisubisya, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, said the government recognizes the contribution of pharmacists in providing services and will continue to receive recommendations and advice to address existing challenges.

The President of the Tanzania Pharmacists Association, Fadhili Hezekel, said that World Pharmacists Day is important because of the significant role pharmacists play in serving people. He also expressed gratitude for the ongoing creation of many job opportunities in various health centers, while the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council encouraged pharmacists to continue advancing their education.
The Director of the CSSC, Peter Maduki, said that due to the importance of pharmacists, the Church, through the Commission, has continued to find various ways to solve the challenges faced by pharmacists, including the lack of quality in their service delivery. The goal is to have expert and professional pharmacists.
The celebrations were guided by the slogan: “When you think about health, think about the pharmacist.”
