ZANZIBAR: CRDB Bank has donated medical equipment and cleaning supplies to KMKM Military Hospital in Kibweni, Unguja West A District.
The donation includes 100 bed sheets, blankets, patient drinks and various sanitary items such as soap, gloves, rakes, hand grass slashers and wheelbarrows, according to Ms Fatma Nassor, the CRDB’s Employee Volunteering Programme (EVP) Chairperson.
Zanzibar’s Deputy Minister for Health, Mr Hassan Khamis Hafidh, highlighted the importance of private sector involvement in enhancing healthcare services, urging other financial institutions to engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Mr Hafidh emphasised that improving healthcare infrastructure and supplies remains a priority, commending CRDB for setting a positive example.

He also noted that global health challenges, such as poor nutrition and equipment shortages, could be addressed through healthy practices and robust PublicPrivate Partnerships (PPP).
CRDB Acting Human Resources Director, Mr Timothy Fasha, explained that the EVP aims to support the community through environmental cleanup and patient gifts.
KMKM Commander of the Anti-Smuggling Unit, Commodore Azana Hassan Msingiri, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its positive impact on patient care and urging other institutions to follow suit.
CRDB Coastal Region Manager, Mr Badru Iddi described the EVP as a sustainable initiative that supports various sectors, including healthcare, education, and disaster relief.
